Call to Arms: Panzer Elite is a spin-off of the tactical war series from the German studio Digitalmindsoft. In this World War II tank simulator, we take on the role of a German armored unit commander during the Allied landing in Normandy. The project was created with support from the government.

Gameplay

Our goal in the campaign is to organize defense, conduct counterattacks, and move around the chaos-ridden terrain of Normandy. We command up to five tanks in real time, smoothly switching between them to respond to changing threats. We have both first-person and third-person view available.

Call to Arms: Panzer Elite offers a destructible environment. Collapsing buildings, craters, and rubble shape the course of battles, requiring constant adaptation to changing battlefield conditions. Additional realism is provided by the detail in terms of armor physics and ballistics.

  • Realism in Combat: Many players expressed a desire for a more realistic damage model and ballistics system, as well as a more immersive experience when it comes to tank operations (like crew management and repair mechanics).
  • Checkpoints and Save Systems: The lack of a checkpoint system for missions was a common complaint, as players found it frustrating to replay lengthy missions after dying.
  • More Content: Users requested additional factions, more missions, and varied gameplay modes, such as a conquest mode similar to "Gates of Hell."
  • Improved AI: There were calls for better AI behavior for both enemy and friendly units, including more realistic tactical responses and improved pathfinding.

Summary

  • Overall, while "Call to Arms: Panzer Elite" shows promise and has some enjoyable elements, it currently suffers from several issues that need addressing to fully realize its potential as a WWII tank combat game.
