Captain Tsubasa (Captain Hawk) is a brand that needs no introduction to anyone who grew up in Poland in the 1990s. The soccer anime of that title (which is an adaptation of the manga) was triumphant at the time, so even a person who did not have direct access to it had at least heard of it.
In 2020, Tamsoft studio and Bandai Namco Entertainment released its adaptation in the form of the arcade sports game Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. In time, it lived to see a sequel, Captain Tsubasa II: World Fighters, described here.
At the core of Captain Tsubasa II: World Fighters is the gameplay scheme developed for its predecessor. During the course of the game, we take part in soccer matches that emphasize our dexterity and reflexes, and have been presented in a spectacular manner characteristic of the brand.
Twenty-two national teams participate in the games, and we can play the roles of more than 110 characters. The actions on the field, meanwhile, are presented through more than 150 cinematic interludes.
The production does not strive for realism, as evidenced by the presence of the so-called super moves. With their help we can deceive and evade opponents or shoot at the goal with unusual strength (often perforating the net in the process). This title expands the range of these plays, allowing you to use them also during passing, dribbling, sliding or blocking.
The graphic design of Captain Tsubasa II: World Fighters is maintained in the manga style known from the original.
