A horror action adventure game with an FPP camera. In Crisol: Theater of Idols we play as a soldier travelling through a cursed baroque island of Tormentosa. He must face various dangers and the game's unique mechanic is using our own blood to power our weapons.
Crisol: Theater of Idols is an action adventure game, maintained in the horror convention. The game was developed by the Spanish Vermila Studios and represents their debut project.
In Crisol: Theater of Idols we view events from a first-person perspective (FPP).
The adventure leads us through narrow city streets, gloomy landscapes, and ruins. Animated statues are some of the threats we must face. They can vary in size, resistance to damage, and attack power. They may be treated as standard adversaries or as bosses who are much more powerful.
The protagonist eliminates enemies, making use of weapons (pistols, shotguns) and combat skills. Since they use his own blood, we must constantly be on guard, as each attack drains a bit of the hero's vital strength, making combat a constant balancing act on the edge of life and death.
As we progress, we gain access to new weapons. Additionally, over time we develop the protagonist, which increases his combat potential.
Crisol: Theater of Idols takes us to the island of Tormentosa, located in the baroque, fantasy land of Hispania, which is a result of historical events, folklore, and the religion of the real Spain. The main character of the game is a soldier named Gabriel. He arrives here on the orders of the sun god to fulfill his divine mission and uncover the terrifying secrets of this place and put an end to the macabre customs of its inhabitants.

Game Ratings for Crisol: Theater of Idols Video Game.
Game8: 70 / 100 by Allisandra Reyes
Crisol: Theater of Idols is an ambitious game with moments of creativity and style, but its execution consistently holds it back. The story fails to engage, combat is frustrating, and the character design often breaks immersion. At the same time, it offers one of the more compelling first-person horror settings in recent years, and its environmental and thematic work are impressive. It’s a game with strong ideas that never fully coalesce into a consistently satisfying experience, making it interesting but flawed overall.
GameSpew: 8 / 10 by Richard Seagrave
A first-person survival horror game with a story steeped in Spanish history, folklore and religion, Crisol: Theater of Idols may borrow from the likes of Resident Evil but it manages to stand out thanks to its creepy enemies and clever blood bullet mechanic.
Use a Potion: 7.5 / 10
Crisol: Theater of Idols is an engrossing, if slightly unpolished, horror experience that offers a world that is dripping in atmosphere and a combat loop that keeps you on your toes. It might not always terrify you in the way it intends to - especially where Dolores is concerned - but between the grotesque enemy designs and the constant tension of the Blood Bullet mechanic, there is plenty here to enjoy. If you’re a fan of survival horror (and don’t mind a little bit of indie jank), this trip to Tormentosa is well worth the low price of admission.
