Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition is an enhanced edition of Darksiders II, bringing forth more than a number of game improvements, but also all DLCs and expansions released to date. The production was released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One by Nordic Games - the current owner of the franchise after the THQ company went bankrupt.

Story

Story-wise, Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition for PC, PS4 and XONE is not different from the base game. You play as Death – one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – trying to help a brother of his, War, who got into some serious trouble. As you begin to fight your way through the spirit world, you not only strive to uncover the overlaying intrigue, but also deal with the protagonist’s own problems and weaknesses. Moreover, you can do various missions and side quests that complement the main story and the setting.

Darksiders Game Series

Darksiders is a series of action adventure games with RPG elements and a third-person perspective. The plot of the series is loosely based on the biblical Book of Revelation, also known as the Revelation of St. John. The characters of the protagonists are reminiscent of the famous Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, and the backdrop for the gameplay is the dramatic scenes of the end of the world - angels and demons fight in the ruins of modern cities, bringing death and destruction to a defenseless civilization of humans.

COGconnected: 82 / 100 by Mark Steighner

While I wouldn’t call Darksiders II underrated, sales notoriously underperformed in 2012. Since then, lots of players have taken the opportunity to enjoy the game on a variety of platforms in the expanded and excellent Deathfinitive edition. Any fan of recent action RPGs will almost certainly enjoy Darksiders II’s combat and world. It looks great on the PS5 and anyone with the PS4 version gets a free upgrade. It’s definitely worth diving into again, or for the first time in the new version.
