Darkwater is an extraction game, maintained in the convention of a survival horror. The game was developed by the independent team Targon Studios from Canada, which has projects such as The Haunting of Billy and Fire & Maneuver in its portfolio.

Gameplay

In Darkwater we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). Our main means of transportation, as well as our base of operations and a kind of mobile fortress, is a submarine. We use the sub to explore the ocean located under a thick layer of ice and travel from outpost to outpost in search of valuable supplies, among which fuel (allowing us to venture further) and ammunition are the most important.

Searching for resources and fighting opponents

We can dock the submarine and visit some facilities on foot. This is when we can encounter infected divers dressed in characteristic suits with large spherical helmets, but also anglerfish (deep-sea fish) or cosmic crabs. We must fight them, making use of melee weapons (like blacksmith hammers), firearms (like pistols and shotguns), as well as blowtorches and other tools.
