Octopuses are creatures that, due to their appearance and body shape, rarely become the main protagonists of video games. One exception to this rule is Darwin's Paradox, a platform game starring the titular tentacle-equipped protagonist, developed by the independent Paris-based ZDT Studio team and published by Konami.
In Darwin's Paradox, the action is viewed from the side. During the gameplay we accompany our protégé as he crosses an industrial complex. While traversing the junkyard and the factory standing nearby, Darwin has to watch out for dangers in the form of sinister machines and unknown, dangerous creatures that he encounters here. Fortunately, the young octopus is not defenseless.
Darwin is a very good swimmer and, as befits an octopus, can use camouflage. In addition, his tentacles allow him to interact with elements of the environment and move levers, activate switches or grasp various objects. His abilities are used both during arcade challenges and during infiltration missions (requiring, among other things, hiding from predators), as well as to solve puzzles.
The game's main protagonist, a young octopus named Darwin, was kidnapped by a mysterious ray of light. Pulled out of the ocean, the protagonist ended up in an industrial complex, and his task is not only to escape from this place, but also to uncover a conspiracy on which the fate of humanity may depend.

Game Ratings for Darwin's Paradox Video Game.
PlayStation Universe: 8.5 / 10 by James Davie
By leaning on its MGS stealth adventure lineage, Konami and developers ZDT Studios has produced a pleasing homage through it courtesy of Darwin's Paradox. The threats and the platforming challenges are numerous, the references are cool and you'll be content to keep on lapping this one up just to see the iron will of Darwin continue onward towards salvation. At times it can be a bit tricky to know exactly what to do, the story is threadbare and it might not be lengthy, but you will surely remember this one when you're done-even if it's just for the Metal Gear Solid references.
Metro GameCentral: 5 / 10
A more family friendly attempt to mimic the likes of Limbo and Inside but while the graphics are impressive the gameplay feels stolid and poorly paced.
Gamer Social Club: 7.5 / 10 by Daire Behan
Darwin’s Paradox is a strong debut from ZDT Studio, cleverly utilizing cinematic platforming genre staples to create a fun, well paced 5-hour adventure. That being said, an abrupt ending unfortunately robs the game of a satisfying conclusion, and it’s clear that the Nintendo Switch 2 version needed more time in the oven to properly utilize the hardware.
