Over the years, simulation game developers have devoted their works to both more and less mundane activities. DrainSim from independent developer CodePeas belongs to the latter group, as it allows you to stand eye to eye with the element that is the flood.
In DrainSim we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The production takes us to flooded locations, which we have to drain. Based on the information received before the start of each mission, including the type of terrain, the distance from the generator, as well as the time of day (the game has implemented a selection cycle), we select tools and set to work.
The title puts at our disposal a wide range of equipment. We are talking both about the good old rakes, buckets and shovels, as well as more advanced equipment, headed by submersible pumps and generators. If, on the other hand, we come to work after dark, it is necessary to remember about artificial lighting.
The realistic behavior of water is supervised by an advanced physics engine. Fighting the element takes place by unblocking drains, digging additional canals, pumping out water or creating artificial barriers to prevent hectoliters of liquid from spreading further.
As we progress, we unlock a variety of upgrades and new tools, thanks to which over time we become more and more effective in our tasks.
