Dread Dawn is a survival action game set in a world overrun by hordes of the living dead. The game was developed by the independent Chinese studio Kioop.

Plot

Dread Dawn takes us to a metropolis overrun by hordes of zombies. After the majority of the city's population was infected with a virus turning people into living corpses, the place was quarantined, and the residents who failed to escape with the evacuation convoy were left to their fate.We take on the role of a student in the game. Together with a group of other survivors we must do everything to survive until outside help arrives.

Gameplay

In Dread Dawn we watch the action from a bird's eye view. The game provides us with an open world, in which we can find a number of public utility buildings, such as metro stations, hospitals, schools or prisons. In each of the locations we visit we can come across useful resources that increase our chances of survival, so exploration plays an important role here.

However, when exploring these gloomy places, we must be careful, as the threat of the living dead lurks at almost every step. While a single zombie doesn't pose much of a problem, a whole horde of them is a real danger. We eliminate enemies by using melee and firearms, constantly moving on the battlefield to avoid getting bitten. We are not doomed to travelling alone, as other survivors also accompany us. Allies can provide real support on the battlefield and we can also trade with them.

Our base of operations is the camp, which we develop and fortify as we progress. The construction of fortifications is important - over time more and more living dead start to take an interest in our house. This place is our safe haven, and it can also be a source of food. There is nothing to prevent us from using the available space for having chickens or cultivating the land.
