The independent Polish development studio Vixa Games has a roguelike shooter titled The Crackpet Show and a survival action adventure game Edge of Sanity (inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft) in its portfolio. While preparing for Dust Raiders as their next project, the developers drew inspiration from Mad Max series. This resulted in a car strategy game with RPG elements, set in a post-apocalyptic universe.

Gameplay

In Dust Raiders we watch the action in a top-down view.

Return to the right track

We enter a devastated world in the game and play as a character who has been deprived of a lifetime's work in the form of a refinery and fuel reserves. As if that wasn't enough, the protagonist also lost members of their crew, and above all, their friend Victor. It's up to us to gather a new team during our journey in the wilderness and get back on track.

The car as our apple of the eye

Our means of transportation, main weapon, and at the same time mobile command center, is a car, which we assemble ourselves from available parts. We use it to travel the game world, where we will find polluted swamps, abandoned Polis, and above all - the Eternal Desert. Exploring the map, we get to know its inhabitants and carry out story quests for them that push the plot forward, as well as side missions.

Fighting opponents

As we progress, other daredevils join us, gradually forming an increasingly stronger team. This is important because the game world is teeming with enemies, so fighting is a daily bread here. The fights take place in real time, and all participants are rushing forward. Given that enemies often outnumber us, the key to success during skirmishes is efficient juggling of the arsenal.

Resource gathering and trading

Over time, we accumulate better equipment, which increases the combat potential of our vehicle. We also acquire other items that we can trade. The economic system implemented in the game is based on the law of supply and demand, but it may also be influenced by random events.
