ENKI is a first-person survival horror with an emphasis on logical puzzles. The main objective is to escape a dangerous serial killer. This is the second – following the fantasy adventure game NERO – project of independent Italian studio Storm in a Teacup, this time created for both PC and Xbox One.
The hero of the game wakes up in a bleak, dark basement, imprisoned by an unknown perpetrator. They realize that a cruel and painful death probably awaits them, but with absolutely nothing to lose they make a desperate attempt to escape. To do this, our protagonist has to face many challenges and logical puzzles that slowly reveal the secrets of the killer and his relationship with magic and a mysterious cult.
We experience the game as seen through the eyes of our protagonist. The gameplay is focused on exploring dark rooms and corridors, finding the necessary objects and solving complex logical puzzles, full of symbols and references, inspired by the Sumerian culture and authentic occult works. The game has several endings that depend on how our choices affect the development of the plot and how many puzzles we eventually manage to solve.
In terms of visuals, ENKI uses the advanced Unreal Engine, featuring a high level of graphics and an immersive, dark atmosphere. The game is designed to be completed multiple times; the randomization system ensures that each new game will differ from the previous sessions.
