Eternights

Eternights is a third-person action game and the debut project of Studio Sai.

Plot

The game is set in the near future. The people of Earth are on the verge of extinction due to a mysterious phenomenon, transforming people into power hungry, violent monsters.

We play as a young man, one of the few immune to the phenomenon, which has granted him supernatural powers. Together with his loved ones, he must survive the end of the world and discover what caused it.

Mechanics

Eternights is a cross between an action game and a dating sim. Players set out on missions, fighting hordes of monsters in arcade-like battles. Stages contain enemies, traps and valuable resources, letting us increase our characters' combat capabilities, equipment and unlock new skills. Only our main character is directly playable, but we're also supported by AI-controlled companions.

We'll spend most of our downtime between missions at our base. There, we learn the NPCs' personal stories and establish relationships, some of which are romantic in nature. Strong bonds unlock new abilities and spells to use during missions.

Each day has a limited number of hours, so we can never do all we want. Everything takes time - missions, dating, resource gathering - forcing us to choose and prioritize what's most important at the moment.

Game modes

The game only supports singleplayer.

Technical aspects

Eternights features appealing, cartoonish 3D visuals. There are also numerous 2D anime cutscenes.
