Etherlords is a fantasy turn-based strategy game and a mobile spin-off of a popular series from 2001-2003. The game is a result of cooperation between the Russian studio Targem Games and an experienced team of Nival Interactive, the developers of such titles as Heroes of Might & Magic V, King's Bounty: Legions, as well as Rage of Mages, Blitzkrieg and Prime World series. The title is available on mobile devices in a free-to-play model.
The plot of Etherlords takes place in a world in which the Kinets (the power of water), Vital (the power of nature) and Chaots (the power of fire) are in a constant war for magical energy called ether. In the universe devastated by the cataclysm, various monsters were born, and the planet suffers under the rules of the mighty Goddess Chaos. The player's mission is to revive the dying world and restore peace. To do this, they will have to defeat hordes of monsters and bosses ruling over the lands.
In Etherlords, we create our team of heroes with various abilities, using a total of more than 200 heroes and fantastical monsters. Players have at their disposal a large gallery of characters, from wolves and dragons to powerful scorpions, manticores, griffins or colossuses. Each of them has its own set of skills and some work better in the offensive, defensive or supportive roles.
Duels take place in the turn-based system, and up to three heroes can take part in them. The key to success is to select the right characters and combat tactics that suit the character and abilities of the opponent. Successive skirmishes allow us to conquer and liberate new fragments of the world, although depending on the territory, we won't always succeed the first time. The fights are relatively short and dynamic and victories give us a virtual currency, thanks to which we recruit new heroes and develop their skills, making various crossbreeds and mutations in a special laboratory. When we defeat a boss, we get special chests, in which we can find new characters, potions and other useful elements of equipment.
In addition to quite a long story campaign, the creators have also added a PvP mode, in which, taking part in daily and seasonal challenges, we are fighting with other players, climbing up the tournament ladder.
In terms of graphics, Etherlords is based on the popular Unity engine and presents quite a high level thanks to impressive animations and various visual effects.
