Action, TPP, Fantasy, RPG Elements, Co-op, Splitscreen, Slasher, Nintendo Exclusive, Multiplayer, Singleplayer

Fire Emblem Warriors is a spin-off of the popular jRPG series Fire Emblem that was released on Nintendo Switch. The game that was created by Omega Force and Nintendo is quite different from what we could see in the series' previous installments. Instead of a turn-based tactical RPG, we get a fantasy hack'n'slash that uses the series' characteristic elements and characters, and throwing in only a couple of RPG elements.

Fire Emblem Warriors for SWITCH and 3DS is a fast-paced arcade action game with RPG elements developed by Nintendo, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force. It is a spin-off of the popular tactical jRPG series Fire Emblem.

Mechanics

Just like the other game from Omega Force, Hyrule Warriors that was based on the The Legend of Zelda series and released on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, Fire Emblem Warriors for SWITCH and 3DS uses the series' characteristic elements and characters and adds only a couple of RPG elements. In terms of gameplay, Fire Emblem Warriors uses mechanics similar to those from the Dynasty Warriors game series.

God is a Geek: 7 / 10 by Nick Gillham

While the 3DS hardware doesn't measure up to the Switch, Fire Emblem Warriors provides the same experience regardless of format.

GameSpot: 6 / 10 by Jeremy Winslow

Fire Emblem's heroes are a natural fit for a Warriors game, but their world adds little depth to the aging and shallow hack-and-slash series.

DualShockers: 8 / 10 by Tomas Franzese

I found immense enjoyment in watching some of my favorite Fire Emblem characters fight hordes of foes in 3D, as it something we have never really gotten with the series before. While the game is let down a bit by mediocre AI and underwhelming voice acting and story, Fire Emblem Warriors delivers with enjoyable gameplay that blends mechanics from both Fire Emblem and Warriors games into something unique and unlike anything else on the Nintendo Switch. I hope Koei Tecmo continue this collaboration with Nintendo, either on sequels to Fire Emblem and Hyrule Warriors, or another IP like Xenoblade.
