In video games, hunting supernatural beasts rarely takes the form of actual hunting. Among the exceptions to this rule is Folklore Hunter, an action game that is the debut project of Liquid Donkey Games, an independent studio from New Zealand.

Gameplay

In Folklore Hunter, events are viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). The game's driving force is hunting creatures not of this world. In order to deal with each of them, we first have to conduct a kind of investigation and find out what kind of monster we are dealing with and what brought it to the territory, and then find a way to stop it.

All this is not easy, as we have to deal with such creatures as the horned Wendigo, the fearsome Moth Man or the Gnome. The hunts take place in handcrafted locations with an open structure, among which we find dense forests, cave systems, abandoned military outposts, dark catacombs or haunted churches.
