Fort Meow for PC and iOS is an arcade logic game, developed by Upper Class Walrus.
The player assumes the role of a red-haired girl who visits the sullen and mysterious residence of her family. In one of the rooms, the girl finds a journal kept by her grandfather describing his adventures and discoveries. Unfortunately, she was attacked by a group of cats before she managed to turn the first page. It turns out that after the granddad’s unfortunate death, grandma went off his rocker, and began to feed dozens of cats. For some reason, the cats don’t want to let the girl read the journal. However, our heroine doesn’t plan on giving up, and decides to use her wits in the battle against the meowing menace.
During the game, we have an overview of the whole attic. Various cats drop on her from all sides – our job is to shield her from harm. To do that, we need to build simple obstacles using different objects found nearby, such as furniture, pillows or mattress. The game is controlled by a complex physics engine, so our constructs have to be stable, or they will fall on our heroine’s head. The gameplay takes place in real time, so the game forces prompt repairs of the damaged elements and quick replacement.
After a few encounters, we proceed to explore a different area. Exploring the rooms results in finding useful items that can be used to defend against the cats. These will come in handy, as further pages of the journal mean new challenges – the difficulty level quickly increases, and the game shifts from casual to pretty challenging.
