Frontline Commando: WW2, released on AND and iOS, is the continuation of the successful mobile shooter Frontline Commando: D-Day. The production, set in the Second World War, was developed by Glu Mobile, the creators of such series as Blood & Glory, Contract Killer and Deer Hunter. The title is available in a free-to-play model with optional microtransactions.

Plot

Frontline Commando: WW2 continues the story of the Allies' struggle against the Nazis and other representatives of the Axis. This time, the campaign, consisting of more than 180 challenges (based on real events), starts in Belgium with the so-called Ardennes offensive. In the later phase of the game, the player also visits Germany and takes part in selected operations during the Italian campaign.

Mechanics

According to what Frontline Commando series has already accustomed us to, missions are divided into two basic types - the main missions and those dedicated to a specific combat technique. In the case of the latter, we take part in typical firefights using rifles and machine guns, destroy tanks with bazookas, neutralize artillery cannons, participate in sniper duels, or force enemies to leave their covers by using a flamethrower. We can also use throwing weapons like grenades.

The combat boils down to hiding behind the covers and leaning out at the right time to shoot. In the course of the game, the player gains a virtual currency, which they spend on weapon upgrades. Without them, completing the later challenges can be impossible to do. Also, we won't be able to unlock to some side missions (they require us to have the specific equipment).

Technical aspects

Technically, Frontline Commando: WW2 won't surprise anyone - the game uses the same engine as the previous game from the series. Its capabilities are noticeably smaller than the latest mobile games, although it must be admitted that the authors did their best to make the game more attractive (e.g. the locations visited during the main missions are bigger and full of various objects).
