The main pros of the game

  • Intense and Engaging Combat: Furi features a unique blend of sword-fighting and bullet-hell mechanics that create fast-paced, challenging boss fights. Players appreciate the satisfaction of mastering the combat system, which includes parrying, dodging, and timing attacks.
  • Stunning Soundtrack: The game boasts an outstanding soundtrack with contributions from renowned electronic artists, enhancing the overall experience and elevating the intensity of battles.
  • Distinct Visual Style: The art direction, characterized by bold colors and cel-shaded graphics, creates a visually striking atmosphere that complements the gameplay.
  • Replayability: Players can revisit the game on higher difficulty settings or focus on perfecting their skills against individual bosses, adding to its longevity.
  • Unique Boss Design: Each boss encounter is memorable and distinct, featuring unique mechanics and phases that keep players engaged.

The main cons of the game

  • Control Issues: Many players found the controls, particularly the dash mechanic, to be unresponsive or unintuitive. The charged dash system can lead to frustrating moments where players are hit due to timing issues.
  • Walking Segments: The slow-paced walking sequences between boss fights can feel tedious and disrupt the game's fast-paced nature, leading to a sense of filler content.
  • Difficulty Curve: While many appreciate the challenge, some players found certain bosses to be disproportionately difficult, leading to frustration, especially when dying resets the entire fight.
  • Lack of Depth in Story: The narrative is minimal and not the main focus, which may disappoint players looking for a more in-depth story experience.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Tighter Controls: Players expressed a desire for more responsive controls, particularly regarding dodging and attack accuracy, which could enhance the overall gameplay experience.
  • More Engaging Storytelling: Some users felt that the story could be expanded or better integrated into the gameplay, as the current narrative is considered too sparse.
  • Improved Tutorials: There were calls for better explanations of game mechanics, particularly the charged dash, to help players understand the combat system more thoroughly.
  • Options for Accessibility: Suggestions for features like aim assist or skippable walking segments were mentioned to accommodate different player preferences and skill levels.

Summary

  • Overall, Furi is praised for its intense gameplay, stunning visuals, and incredible soundtrack, but it also faces criticism for control issues and pacing in its narrative delivery.
