Gordian Quest

Gordian Quest is an independent game combining several genres - roguelike with RPG elements, tactical combat and card game. Mixed Realms, studio known for its dynamic VR action game Sairento, is responsible for the game.

Plot

Gordian Quest takes place in a world affected by a curse that has brought crowds of undead creatures to its land, and people who want to survive are reduced to common bandits, plundering everything they can. In such a situation we get to lead a team of heroes, trying to save what is left of the ruins of the old civilization. Being a hero is not easy and that is why during our journey we will face many moral choices, which will often require choosing the lesser evil.

Mechanics

The foundation of Gordian Quest is to assemble the right party. This can consist of individuals of different sexes or character classes such as warriors, archers, magicians and druids. Consequently, they differ in a range of available skills. Among other things, we can send a meteor shower down on our opponents, turn them into bears, increase the stats of our allies, or put a negative effect on our enemies.

But in order for our heroes to be able to use these skills, we firstly need to build an appropriate deck. Here we can choose from hundreds of cards adapted to a specific class, divided into active and passive skills. The ability to survive in this hostile world depends mainly on putting together a proper deck.

Combat in the game uses a tactical turn-based mode. Each character has a certain amount of action points and can approach the opponent in his turn, attack with a standard hit or use skills.

In addition, we have to make sure that our heroes have the right equipment (swords, axes, shields, armor and others) and develop their skills. It will not be possible without taking care of the ties between our characters, because the level of their relationship has an impact on the combat. We can experiment freely to see which of them can become friends, fall in love, or become enemies. This unlocks the possibility of special combos and attacks that are normally inaccessible to the character.

In the game, we can collect powerful relics that can work to our advantage, but also hinder the gameplay, and also enchant weapons to make them stronger.

Gordian Quest focuses on replayabality through procedurally generated campaigns.

In the game there is also a possibility to choose the level of difficulty from easy, where after death we are reborn in the city and can continue our adventure, to hardcore, where the death of one of our heroes is permanent and there is no way to revive them.
