Release Date: 2026
A modified version of the 2006 third-person RPG, created specifically for consoles. Gothic 3 Classic offers all of the content of the third installment of the series, following the adventures of the Nameless Hero. This version was adapted to new platforms and the biggest change is the modified control scheme.
In 2023, the original Gothic game had its premiere on the Nintendo Switch console. This version was very successful and soon after the second installment of the series followed in its footsteps, in the form of Gothic II Complete Classic. Over time, the company THQ Nordic, which manages the brand, decided to make these versions available to owners of other platforms. It also prepared a port of the third part of this cult RPG series, namely the Gothic 3 Classic described here.
In Gothic 3 Classic the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The adventure begins after the events depicted in the second installment of the series. Nameless Hero, Lee, Lester, Gorn, Milten, and Diego arrive on the continent, where they discover that the kingdom of Myrtana has fallen under the onslaught of orc forces. How the further fate of the hero and his entourage unfolds depends on us.
Compared to the second part of the series, the game stands out due to a significantly larger world with an open structure. We are given three lands at our disposal, namely the kingdom of Myrtana, the ice-bound and snow-covered Nordmar, and the desert Varrant.
While exploring them, we complete story missions that push the plot forward and also side quests. We can also make choices along the way. Our decisions not only affect the further course of the story, but also our reputation in specific cities and with specific factions. Depending on the choices we make, the Nameless Hero can join the king's supporters or cooperate with the orcs, as well as establish cooperation with desert assassins or nomads.
Interestingly, unlike previous entries under this banner, the characteristic division into chapters has been abandoned here.
Once again, fights with opponents play an important role here. The combat system has undergone changes and has been somewhat simplified. It has also been enriched with the possibility of fighting using two light swords. The protagonist can also eliminate enemies with a bow (changes have also been made here compared to predecessors) or magic. This last one deserves a separate mention, as the consequence of the destruction of the runes by Xardas is the necessity to learn spells based on the knowledge left by the ancients.
As we progress, we develop the Nameless Hero. In addition to combat skills, we also improve other abilities along the way, led by alchemy, blacksmithing, or cooking.
