A survival horror with an open world, based on the popular movie license. Halloween was made by Illfonic studio (Predator: Hunting Grounds, Friday the 13th: The Game). It features both asymmetric multiplayer mode (4vs1) and a story campaign, allowing us to play as Michael Myers.
Halloween is a cult horror film series, started in 1978 and created by John Carpenter. Illfonic Studio (known for games such as Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator: Hunting Grounds), in collaboration with Gun Media, based their project on it. They have created an open-world survival horror game, simply titled Halloween. Although the pillar of this game is asymmetrical multiplayer, it also offers a story campaign.
Halloween takes us back to the town of Haddonfield in 1978. The gameplay varies, depending on who we embody.
As Michael Myers, the masked murderer hunting the residents of Haddonfield on Halloween night, we operate quietly, sneaking in the shadows and attacking our victims by surprise. Avoiding detection is important because our targets may defend themselves against us or call the police.
As one of the residents of Haddonfield, we have to fight for survival, making use of weapons (which can be both real ones and everyday items we find). The key to success is informing others about the looming threat, as well as calling the police for help, which over time engages more forces. In addition to this, we can take control of NPCs and arm them to help us fight the perpetrator.
Halloween is based on an asymmetrical multiplayer mode, in which a four-person team of players embodying the residents of Haddonfield battles with the fifth participant of the game, taking control over Michael Myers. The masked killer was also given a campaign plot, allowing to trace the events of the night that initiated the years-long nightmare.
Halloween operates on the Unreal Engine 5.
