Of all the planets in the solar system, Mars captures our imagination the most. This is because the red planet appears as a natural candidate for colonization, possibly becoming a new home for humanity in the future. Independent Turkish Redivided Studios and the REIN team decided to let us taste the life of one of the colonizers of this globe, creating a survival game titled Horizon Journey.
In Horizon Journey , we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). The title takes us to the year 2053 and takes us to Mars on the 17th Endeavor mission. All issues related to survival in the inhospitable Martian environment and base building rest on our shoulders here.
An open world was created for the game, which was designed based on real NASA images. Exploring the surface of the Red Planet, we look for resources for crafting and construction. We are talking about both materials left behind by previous missions and naturally occurring minerals. Based on them, we expand the base, creating more modules for different purposes or manufacture useful equipment.
The latter consists of components that can be combined and exchanged with each other. It includes not only the items at our disposal, but also vehicles and remote-controlled rovers. They are equipped with night vision, thermal imaging and special scanners, so they are able to venture where we cannot reach on our own.
Over time, we will also gain the ability to create structures that increase our chances of survival (such as a food synthesizer, material conversion synthesizer, aquarium unit or analytical st?le) and enable the gradual terraforming of Mars. At the same time, we should not forget to design an efficient power grid.
We also need to monitor indicators of a character's health, hunger, thirst and oxygen supply. There is also no shortage of environmental challenges to face. Sandstorms, radiation zones or high temperatures can damage equipment and expose us to danger. As if that weren't enough, hidden, still unexplored dangers lurk beneath the surface of Mars.
Horizon Journey can be played solo or in cooperative mode over the Internet.
