Release Date: 2026
A reboot of the 2001 two-dimensional platformer, made by the creators of the original game. In Icy Tower we control a hero wearing a characteristic hat. Along with his friends, he needs to climb floors of the endless tower. Making a mistakes and falling means having to restart the climb.
In 2001, a simple platformer titled Icy Tower was released, developed by Johan Peitz and Emanuel Garnheim, with music by Anders Svensson. Years later, the first and third of the above-mentioned developers, as well as other creators, decided to prepare a reboot of that game. It resulted in the project described here, also titled Icy Tower.
The new Icy Tower draws heavily from the original. We're dealing with a classic 2D platformer, in which we watch the action from the side. By controlling Harold Homeboy, who wears a large hat, and other characters, our aim to climb as high as possible on an endless tower.
By jumping on platforms, sliding on surfaces, bouncing off walls, and above all, linking jumps into spectacular combinations, we pass through various biomes and earn points reflecting how well we are doing. As progress is made, the difficulty level of the challenges increases, testing our dexterity and reflexes. From time to time, power-ups can be found that may save us from failing the game.
This is particularly important because if we fall, we have no choice but to start the entire journey over again. Our achievements can be captured thanks to a replay system.
The graphics of Icy Tower were created using the pixel art technique.
