Mechanics

The gameplay in its near-entirety revolves around combat, the arenas meant to expand the Hololive universe. The battles are similar to games such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, that is - two characters face each other, able to move in two dimensions: vertically and horizontally. The available moves include regular blows, delivered from a standing or crouching position, launching enemies and juggling them, as well as special attacks unique to each character. These include ranged attacks, summoning fictional animals or rapid, unblockable combos.

The developers intended to make the gameplay as smooth as possibly, with the special control scheme allowing even inexperienced players pick the game up.

Game modes

Although Idol Showdown can be played alone, the primary gameplay mode is either online, in which we're paired with other players from around the world, or local multiplayer with other people.

Technical aspects

The game's pixel art visuals result in low system requirements. The numerous particle effects, environmental details on the stages and the soundtrack, consisting mostly of remixed tracks by Hololive members, are all especially appealing.
