Puzzle game with platform game elements. In In My Shadow we play as Bella, whose memories of a difficult childhood come to life in the form of shadows on the walls of her house. The girl has to overcome a series of arcade and puzzle challenges in order to deal with her past.
In My Shadow is a platform game with puzzle game elements, based on the mechanics of shadow manipulation, which is not often used in video games. The game was developed by Playbae Games, an independent Indian studio, while its release was handled by Alcon Interactive Group.
The main character of In My Shadow is a young woman named Bella. After receiving an unexpected message from her father, the protagonist recalls her childhood and problems in her family. While trying to accept her difficult past, the girl watches her memories come to life on the walls of her house.
In In My Shadow we take control of the shadow of the younger version of the main character, cast on the wall of her room. Watching it from the side, we overcome various obstacles and avoid traps, also presented as shadows, as well as solve simple puzzles. The game also lets us zoom out and move objects in the room to change the position and size of obstacles visible on the walls, or create platforms for the little protagonist to jump onto. More than fifty such arcade and logic challenges await completion, which take place on the walls of the four rooms of Bella's house. Over time, the difficulty level increases; for example, one object can cast shadows on two walls, forcing you to be more inventive and spatially imaginative.
In My Shadow has simple, yet colourful and clear graphics. It is complemented by an atmospheric soundtrack enhancing the emotions accompanying the watching of subsequent memories of Bella's difficult childhood.

In My Shadow is a competent puzzle game all things considered, with clever puzzle design and a nice learning curve tying it all together – even if it is a bit rough around the dges.

In My Shadow has all the fundamentals of a puzzle game, but feels lack-luster when up against its rival puzzle platformers that have been released this year. Despite housing an engaging story, with a unique premise and lots of levels, it just feels mundane, tedious and repetitive to play, especially with its punishing difficulty curve.

In My Shadow is a great puzzle platformer, and something we’d love to see more of. The game tells a very personal story with some blunt writing. While the character models are the weakest part of the game, the general presentation, and audio design are impressive throughout. The actual gameplay is refreshing and brings a lot of interesting ideas to the genre while delivering a polished experience. Recommended for people that like the platforming genre, and for those that want a pretty good story with it.
