Dr. Tiberius Riptide was a well-known and respected marine biota researcher. Nobody suspected that this man secretly created an underwater laboratory, in which plans for a powerful device capable of turning all ocean inhabitants into a delicious delicacy, packed in cans. Tuna, as Riptide called his invention, has already entered the black market, gaining great popularity among influential businessmen. With the mission of finding the insane doctor and destroying his laboratory, a lonely bathyscaphe is sent. It is you, Nick Nautilus, who sit at the helm and save the remaining marine life. In Search of Dr. Riptide turns out to be an extremely enjoyable arcade game, in which the ability to quickly press the trigger and to maneuver in the tight corridors of undersea caves will have a colossal meaning.

Before the final duel with the mad scientist, you first have to overcome a huge labyrinth of complex underwater structures, which are also densely populated by our bloodthirsty ocean inhabitants. Fortunately, the bathyscaphe is armed with deadly means of extermination, capable of annihilating potential aggressors from a safe distance. In tight and dark tunnels we will also encounter bonuses (hidden in barrels), which will increase the hitting power of weapons and parts for extremely effective plasma guns.

Step by step after our bathyscaphe follows a smaller unit called Jason, which can be used to pass through tight tunnels. Nautilus will have to use the services of a friendly boat many times, because it is in the caves, which are difficult to access, that the majority of buttons are hidden, opening the gates to the next sectors of the huge undersea fortress. Immersed in the sea abyss, our hero will also have to remember to replenish oxygen and control the strength of shields capable of repelling a massive enemy attack.

In Search of Dr. Riptide boasts a pleasant audio-visual setting that equals other representatives of the genre in every respect. The game is not the easiest one, but after completing each stage we receive a special code, the use of which does not force us to constantly start from the beginning. In the final version of the program there are two episodes available, which differ in the visual setting of the labyrinths traveled and the enemy units present in them.
