Released on PS4 and PSV, Super Star Wars is a re-edition of the classic side-scroll action game, which was originally released in 1992 on the SNES console. Developed by the legendary LucasArts studio, the production was then resurrected in 2009 and appeared on Nintendo platforms as part of the Wii Virtual Console service. The PS4 and PSV edition is available in a cross-buy model, so paying for the game once we can download it to both a desktop and a portable Sony console.
The plot of the game is based mainly on the events shown in the fourth part of the saga. of the Star Wars and allows players to take part in key events from the film, such as the search for Obi-Wan Kenobi, rescuing Princess Lei, or confrontation with the Death Star and TIE Fighters, commanded by Darth Vader himself. During the game we initially play the role of Luke Skywalker, but in the further part of the game we can also take control of Han Solo and a friendly Chewbacca.
Super Star Wars mechanics combines elements of several game genres. A significant part of the levels was realized in the style of classic, side-scroll platformers, where as Luke, Solo or Chewbacca we follow a fairly linear path, running, jumping over obstacles and collecting various power-ups (e.g. health or weapons upgrades). To fight the enemies initially we use an ordinary gun blaster, but later in the game we also gain access to a light sword, so that we can eliminate enemies by fighting in a short circuit. Han and Chewbacca benefit from a slightly stronger flame guna, which cannot be improved during the game.
In addition to the classic platform levels, the Super Star Wars There are also stages in which we sit in the cockpits of vehicles. The game takes place in pseudo-three-dimensional environments, and our task is to avoid various obstacles and, of course, eliminate emerging opponents.
In terms of binding, released on PS4 and PSV Super Star Wars practically does not differ from its predecessor more than 2 decades ago, and the publisher of the game took care to adapt the classic title to the requirements of modern consoles (in terms of display and operation of controllers). There is also a slightly modern system for recording game statuses, scoreboards and PSN trophies.
