The fourth mainline installment of the football jRPG series from Level 5 studio. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road allows us to lead a school life as Destin Billows. We also participate in football matches, during which we can lead our handpicked football team.
Inazuma Eleven is a series of jRPGs dedicated to soccer. It was started in 2008 by the company Level 5, which oversees its development. Over the years, it has not only seen new installments but also adaptations in the form of manga and anime. Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road described here is the fourth main installment of this series.
Similar to previous productions under this banner, the gameplay in Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road takes place on two levels.
The first level allows us to take direct control of a character and accompany them in their daily life. Viewing events from a third-person perspective (TPP), we explore locations, interact with other characters, and recruit players for our team.
The second level of gameplay involves playing soccer matches, which are realized in a manner reminiscent of turn-based battles from classic jRPG games. The game allows us to take direct control of players in "manual" mode and make decisions about the characters' next moves in key situations (in such moments, time drastically slows down, giving us a moment to think). Alternatively, we can use the commander mode, where we manage the team through tactical actions.
In addition to the choices we make, success is also ensured by the proper composition of our team. The key to success is selecting players who will complement each other. Additionally, we can increase their potential by training regularly.
The game features a chronicle mode. It contains 5400 characters from previous parts of the series, offering us the opportunity to play past Inazuma Eleven matches with Victorio, a boy from the past.
Moreover, the developers allow us to customize the appearance of characters with cosmetic additions and create our own Bond City - a location we can decorate according to our preferences and then invite other players to visit.
The action of Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road is set 25 years after the events of the first installment of the series. The main character of the game is Destin Billows, who enrolls in Southern Circus Middle School. The plot unfolds when his path crosses with Harper Evans, who is becoming a star at the prestigious Raimon Middle School, known for the best team in the national football championships.
Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road can be played solo or in competitive online multiplayer mode.
The graphics of Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road are maintained in a manga style. The cutscenes were created in collaboration with the animation studio MAPPA.
