International Rally Championship Description
The International Rally Championship is the next installment of the series of rally games published by Europress. Unlike our predecessor, who raced only on the gloomy wilderness of the UK, this time we have the opportunity to take part in races all over the world.
The authors reproduced a dozen or so real and fictional tours, located in various sceneries, countries and continents. In addition to the English muddy roads known from the previous version, we have snows of Finland, Australia's wilderness, Brazilian jungle or Egyptian sands. In the game you will also find a track editor, which will be useful when you have mastered all the special episodes prepared by the creators. Players have at their disposal this time 9 licensed cars, such as Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Subaru Impreza WRC, Ford Escort WRC, Toyota Corolla, Proton Wira, Nissan Almera, Renault Maxi Megane, Skoda Felicia and Volkswagen Golf GTI. Each of the machines can of course be adjusted to the conditions on the route before the rally starts.
In this version of the game, a very realistic camera from behind the wheel was abandoned, providing only views from the outside of the car. Hardcore players were also disapproved of the model of driving and damage. For this reason, the title met with greater interest among fans of more arcade entertainment rather than fans of simulation.
International Rally Championship offers several fun options - from championship and arcade modes divided into 4 difficulty levels, to typical quick rally, simulation, individual and time trial modes. Of course, the multiplayer has not been forgotten. The game allows for simultaneous competition of up to 8 people on the LAN and 2 people on a split screen.
The graphics of the game is at a very high level and thanks to the use of graphics accelerators it clearly defeats its predecessor. OSs are more colorful and clearly differentiated not only in terms of weather conditions, but also in terms of landscape. However, the much wider and easier routes and the new, more arcade driving model, reminiscent of console productions, meant that the International Rally Championship was no longer as successful as its predecessor.
