Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer is the second installment in the point-and-click adventure series initiated in 2016. The game was developed by the authors of the original, namely the independent team Raw Fury Games.

Story

The story of Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer takes place in the year 1998. Kathy Rain returns from the first game. She now lives in the fictional Kassidy metropolis and barely makes ends meet. A chance for her to bounce back comes in the form of a cash reward for solving the case of a serial killer known only as "The Soothsayer". As an ambitious detective, the protagonist decides to start her own investigation, and her future will depend on its success.

Gameplay

In Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer we watch the action from the side. The gameplay does not deviate too much from the classics of this genre, as well as from the mechanics developed for the original game. While playing, we explore locations, talk to other characters, solve puzzles, and collect clues and evidence. Kathy writes about the obtained information in her notebook, and then she can refer to it, connecting the threads and pushing the investigation forward.

Graphics and sound

Similar to the first installment of the series, the graphic design of Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer was created using pixel art technique. The authors decided to increase its resolution and enrich it with modern effects such as dynamic lighting or reflections on surfaces. The dialogues in the sequel were dubbed, and the main character is once again played by actress Arielle Siegel.
