The fourth installment in the action game series, featuring the titular comic book superhero. The game was developed by Rocksteady, the studio which had previously worked on Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. The plot depicts the next chapter of Batman’s adventures. This time, the hero must face Scarecrow, who successfully terrorized Gotham City. A coalition has also formed against the Dark Knight, composed of extremely dangerous criminals such as Penguin or Harley Quinn, and led by the eponymous Arkham Knight. The developers have remained faithful to previously proven solutions and gameplay mechanics. However, several changes have also been implemented, such as the ability to knock out several enemies at once. A brand new feature is the introduction of the famous Batmobile, which can be used to traverse the virtual Gotham.

Disco Elysium is an unusual, isometric RPG game that is the first title developed by Estonian studio ZA/UM. The game is focused mostly on narrative. It takes place in a fictional world that combines modern setting with fantasy traits and with retro-futuristic technologies. The player assumes the role of a policeman who is tired of life. He begins working on a case that can either give him a chance of redemption or take him to the very bottom. During the game player is exploring, completing tasks, speaking to various people and fighting. However, all of this is done in a way that is unusual for the genre. The dialogue system is similar to a logic game during which you must fight by using words and manipulate the person you speak with in various ways. The battles are based on dialogues as well – you must select various text descriptions of actions, trying to create a battle scene worthy of being placed in a good novel.

The story campaign in Batman: Arkham City is set several months after the events of the first game. An old district of Gotham City was walled off and the most dangerous criminals were put inside. Afraid that the situation is getting out of control, Batman tries to stop the wrongdoers before it is too late. Gameplay mechanics combines elements of action with beat’em up game. As compared with the first installment, Batman: Arkham City gives players much greater freedom when it comes to exploration of the game’s open world and carrying out the missions.

As the protagonist, we face Black Mask and his hired thugs. Like in the previous games from the Batman: Arkham series, gameplay combines features of a fighting game with shooter and stealth elements. Additionally, the creators included some innovations, like a built-in system of challenges.

Another installment in the popular series of adventure games developed by Frogwares. A few years age the series became available for console players as well. Once again, the player takes on the role of the most famous detective of all times, Sherlock Holmes, and together they will solve various criminal riddles. The story takes place in the Victorian London well known from previous installments of the series. The protagonist will have six different cases to solve, including murders, kidnappings, and robberies. The gameplay mechanics were slightly changed in comparison to previous installments. Now, the player is frequently required to make tough moral choices that impact both the gameplay and the endings of the game. For the first time in the series, the game uses the advanced Unreal Engine 3 thanks to which it looks much better.

One of them is Lucas Kane who experiences the mysterious event first hand as he kills a complete stranger in a restaurant's restroom. Haunted by strange visions, he decides to find out what is really happening. The other character is Lieutenant Carla Valenti who, along with her life partner Sergeant Tyler Miles, investigates the case. In the course of the game we will visit various locations, speak to other characters, and fight. What is characteristic for Indigo Prophecy is the dark, shrouded in mystery plot and the opportunity to solve the puzzle while playing either as the hunter, or the hunted.

In Secret Files 3: The Archimedes Code, we assume the role of the well-known pair of protagonists, Nina Kalenko and Max Gruber (optionally, two other characters, as well), yet again. This time around, the heroes try to solve the mystery of the Pi. During their adventure not only do they visit various corners of our planet but also a post-apocalyptic world and even travel back in time to the ancient Alexandria and renaissance Florentia. Traditionally, our tasks involve exploring locations, gathering and using items, talking to non-player characters, and solving various kinds of puzzles that include numerous arcade logic mini-games. Contrary to its predecessors, Secret Files 3 forces us to make mutually exclusive choices that lead to one of four alternative conclusions of the story.

Production is based on a novel by Agatha Christie under the same title and is the first installment in a planned game series describing the adventures of a famous sleuth, Hercule Poirot. Plot of the Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders starts when the detective receives a letter from a serial killer, who identifies himself as A.B.C., in which he informs of the date and place of his next crime. When the panic begins to spread in the society, the task of capturing the guilty, falls, of course, on the shoulders of our protagonist. Title employs a third person view, and during the game we visit successive locations, investigate crime scenes, collect evidence, interrogate witnesses, and solve subsequent criminal puzzles. The game features a colorful, slightly cartoonish visual style.

A psychological first-person horror from the Polish developer studio Bloober Team, known best for another horror game, entitled Layers of Fear. Observer is set in a cyberpunk universe, in Cracow of 2048. In the game you play as Daniel Lazarski (starred by Rutger Hauer, known from the film Blade Runner), a detective able to hack into people’s minds. The game’s story starts when the main hero gets a letter from his missing son, who turns out to be a high-ranking engineer working for a powerful corporation. The protagonist picks up an investigation that takes him to the slums of Cracow and forces him to relive dark memories and nightmares of both criminals and their victims. When it comes to gameplay, Observer is a first-person adventure game with survival horror mechanics. Most of the time the player explores grim locations and interacts with characters encountered on the way. An important aspect of gameplay are sequences in which the protagonist hacks into the minds of suspects and becomes part of their worst nightmares.

As you play, you learn the story through exploration and interaction with the environment. Get Even stands out with its innovative graphics based on 3D scans of real-life locations, making it almost literally photorealistic. Additionally, the game features an interesting combination of single and multiplayer gameplay – at any moment another player can join the fight taking the role of characters normally controlled by AI.

The player traverses an extensive, open world - the game is non-linear and the player is free to explore and look for subsequent clues. The game offers many unique mechanics related to making links between different pieces of the puzzle. Walking around the grim areas of Red Creek Valley, the protagonist makes use of his extraordinary abilities, making contact with the dead, experiencing various visions and visiting alternative realities. Gameplay is mainly about examining crime scenes in search of clues and evidence, as well as interrogating witnesses and suspects. The game also offers multiple action sequences, including pursuits (either on foot or by car), fist fights, and spectacular shootouts. When it comes to graphics, the most noteworthy feature are the realistic face expressions that allow you to judge the reactions of interogatees. The game overflows with a noir atmosphere characteristic of the 1940’ and 50’ movies.

Primarily, the title focuses on investigating each homicide and figuring out how to prevent it. To do that, you will have to explore, chat, solve mysteries, and face occasional stealth challenges. Advanced AI deserves special recognition as it simulates the way the guests live and react.

The main protagonist of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Naegi Makoto, is a teenager who starts his education in an elite high school. Soon after the school year starts, Makoto and a group of other students are trapped inside the school building and a digitally-controlled mascot informs them that, in order to escape from the trap, one of them must murder someone else in such way that it will be impossible to find out who is guilty. The game is divided into three separate phases. First the player speaks with selected students, builds relations and learns interesting facts. When the murder happens, the player is tasked with gathering evidence and testimonies. Finally the action moves to a court room where during a trial one must find out who the murderer is through a series of minigames.

The heroine soon learns that there is a new and evil force involved in the case and the unusual events may have something to do with her own vague origin. In Demon Hunter 3: Revelation, you move around static locations where you solve puzzles, look for hidden items, and play minigames which challenge your perceptivity and quick thinking. While doing all of this, step by step, you unravel elements of the plot. The title features quality, colorful, and hand-drawn graphics. Gameplay is accompanied by an original and harmonic soundtrack.

A unique detective game by Sam Barlow, the main designer and writer of Silent Hill: Origins and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. Her Story is a rare example of a FMV adventure game — most of the visuals consists of videos of live-action actors. The plot of Her Story focuses on a British woman named Hannah, whose husband went missing in mysterious circumstances. Based on the recordings of her testimonies from 1994, you have to discover the truth behind those events. The game features an interesting keyword search system, allowing you to quickly find the moment, in which the woman used a particular phrasing. The videos feature various effects, making them look like blurred VHS recordings, and they're complemented by a minimalist interface, which is supposed to look like old computers once used by the police. It's also worth noting that Hannah is played by a professional actress, Viva Seifert.

Gnosia is a visual novel adventure game with RPG elements. The game revolves around deduction. While having conversations, we have to discover information, which later will allow us to indicate who from the crew of the spaceship is not who he says he is.

A sequel to the detective adventure visual novel released in 2010 by Spike Chunsoft. In Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair the player assumes the role of a completely new protagonist named Hajime Hinata. He is accepted to an elite high school despite the fact that he cannot remember what he did to earn that honor. During one of the school trips the class of the protagonist is imprisoned on a tropical island. In order to escape, the students must murder one of their friends and avoid being caught by their colleagues. The gameplay mechanics are based on the same principles as the original game and they are split into three separate phases, in which one must first participate in conversations, then gather testimonies and evidence in the murder case, and finally go to a trial and type the murderer.
