Kaze and the Wild Masks is an arcade game designed for XONE, PS4, and PC. The game was developed over several years. Cristiano Bartel created a prototype, which was later developed into a full-fledged production with the help of the VOX Game Studio team.
Kaze and the Wild Masks takes place in the fantasy land of Carrotland. One day, a comet fell down on it turning plants into dangerous creatures. The only rescue for the inhabitants is Kaze the bunny.
Production is a tribute to classic platformers and was inspired by such games as Donkey Kong Country, Sonic, and Crash Bandicoot. In Kaze and the Wild Masks the action takes place in two dimensions. Players control the titular heroine, who is agile, able to jump on opponents' heads, and use her long ears during rope climbing and gliding. In addition, during the adventure Kaze finds special masks. When they are set up, it gains access to new powers. For example, a bird mask allows Kaze to fly, while the skark mask to swim. Although the gameplay is relatively simple and is based on using two buttons, over time the difficulty level increases and players have to measure jumps accurately, smoothly pass from one skill to another, and show considerable dexterity when overcoming further obstacles.
Kaze and the Wild Masks for XONE, PS4, and PC looks like a modern incarnation of a 16-bit platformer. The game works in high resolution, is very well animated, but thanks to the pixel art technique, the retro atmosphere is pouring out of the screen, which is intensified by the classic gameplay.
