Kinetic Void is a production belonging to the genre of space simulators. The game offers great freedom - we can trade, play as a mercenary or pirate, or join military troops. Great emphasis was placed on the manual design of ships, which we consist of hundreds of independent parts.
Kinetic Void is a space simulator that focuses on building and modifying your own ships. This is the debut project of the independent Badland Studio.
The action of the game takes place in the distant future, at a time when mankind has colonized countless planetary systems. This virtual world is inhabited by several factions and our actions influence relations with them. For example, if we destroy the base, the owners of this base can then hunt us. At the same time the whole universe is generated randomly each time a new game is started. The whole was designed so as not to limit the freedom of the players. We can, for example, trade, play mercenary or pirate, or join military units.
Kinetic Void is a space simulator, so we spend most of our time flying in starry space. During your adventures you can lead many different classes of ships, from small fighters to giant destroyers. It is worth mentioning that in the case of larger units, our duties also include recruiting and managing the crew. The flight is governed by a realistic physical engine. Collisions cause damage and can cause us to lose control of the ship. However, if you set the asteroid in motion, it can tick towards a space station, for example.
The distinguishing feature of the game compared to other productions of this genre are huge possibilities of expansion and modification of ships. Players can assemble their own units from hundreds of small parts. All of them are treated as autonomous elements, which can be destroyed during battles. For example, damage to the engine will cause us to drift inertly in space. A failure of one of the power generators will cut off the power supply of the systems connected to it, unless we redirect another generator to this task.
The game offers two control modes. In the first of them with the cursor we indicate where our ship is to fly. At any time, however, it is possible to take direct control of the rudders. There was also support for the joysticks. The strengths of Kinetic Void are the stellar battles, which do not boil down only to directing the viewfinder at the enemy. We can mount side cannons on our unit and then we get clashes resembling sea battles, in which the key to victory is to manoeuvre the ship properly.
