Knights of the Old Republic Remake is a thoroughly refreshed version of the legendary RPG set in the Star Wars universe. The original was developed by BioWare in 2003. The remake is currently being developed by Saber Interactive, promising gameplay and visual improvements.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is a thoroughly refreshed version of the extremely popular RPG set in the Star Wars universe, developed by BioWare studio in 2003. During the game, we take on the role of a character who makes contact with the Jedi Order and trains to join its ranks. In this way, we become entangled in a galactic war and the search for an ancient artifact.
The remake was first announced in September 2021 as a result of a collaboration between Aspyr, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Lucasfilm Games.
Developers initially were eager to share information about their project, mentioning the return of a known character, as well as refreshing the combat system (which was to undergo thorough changes inspired by games like NiOh 2 or God of War).
When the second team - Saber Interactive - joined the game development in May 2022, there was no indication that the project would encounter any problems. Nevertheless, over time it turned out that the entire project was in serious trouble, which was to lead to the dismissal of key people behind it, as well as to the suspension of the production process.
However, this did not mean the end of the remake, because in the summer of 2022, Star Wars: KotOR Remake project was completely taken over by Saber Interactive, which was to take care of it from then on. Nevertheless, the premiere of this game seems very distant.

After watching the latest PlayStation Showcase conference, I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand, Sony showed some really exciting games; on the other, their release dates are either distant, or totally unspecified.
The Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive studio has confirmed that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still in development and the phantom of cancellation doesn't hang over it. The announcement of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 3 won't negatively affect the developers' existing plans.
