Last Epoch is an action RPG developed by independent studio Eleventh Hour Games. The title was developed thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Story

Last Epoch takes us to the fantasy land of Eterra, which is devoured by a dark force called the Void. In order to ensure their survival, its inhabitants hid in an underground city. Fortunately, not everything is lost - the main character, who is one of the survivors, goes in search of the title artifact, which will enable him to travel in time; traversing four different incarnations of Eterra, the hero not only discovers the secrets hidden by the realm but also finds a way to stop the Void.

In addition to the four main epochs (ancient, divine, imperial and ruined), over time we have the opportunity to check out their alternative versions, which we find through the so-called Monolith of Fate so that we can continue the game even after the main plot is completed.

  • Visuals and Locations: The game is noted for its beautiful locations and visual appeal, contributing to an engaging atmosphere.

The main cons of the game

  • Bugs and Performance Issues: Users report a variety of bugs that hinder gameplay, especially in late-game activities, and performance issues that can affect enjoyment.
  • Lack of Challenge: Some players feel that the game becomes too easy, particularly at higher levels, leading to a lack of strategic depth and engagement.

  • More Meaningful Endgame: Players express a desire for more engaging and varied endgame content, including challenging bosses and mechanics that require strategic thinking.
  • Improved Class Balance: Some classes, particularly Mage and Rogue, are seen as underperforming in endgame scenarios, leading to calls for better class balance and viability.
  • Quality of Life Improvements: Suggestions for improvements include better itemization, more intuitive crafting mechanics, and clearer in-game guides to help players understand systems.
  • Increased Difficulty Options: Users propose the introduction of modes with tougher enemies that require different strategies, enhancing the challenge without simply increasing health pools.
  • Expanded Crafting and Farming Mechanics: There is a call for more mechanics to farm specific affixes and improve the overall crafting experience, making it less grind-heavy and more rewarding.

Conclusion

    Summary

    • Overall, Last Epoch is recognized for its innovative mechanics and engaging gameplay, particularly in character customization and crafting. However, issues with endgame content, bugs, and accessibility features detract from the overall experience for many players. The community expresses hope for future updates that could address these concerns and enhance the game's potential.
