A remake of a 2012 slasher developed by Dragami Games studio. In Lollipop Chainsaw, we play a cheerleader named Juliet, who fights off hordes of zombies, using mainly her pink chainsaw.
Lollipop Chainsaw is a remake of the slasher released in 2012. It was developed by Dragami Games, consisting largely of former members of the Kadokawa Games team, which co-created the original project with Grasshopper Manufacture. The entire project was overseen by Yoshimi Yasuda, the director and producer of the original. Although the title remains faithful to the original in many respects, it also introduces a number of changes, which primarily affected the audiovisual setting.
Lollipop Chainsaw takes us on a journey to the American city of San Romero. The game's main character is cheerleader Juliet Starling, whose 18th birthday turns into a nightmare when her school is attacked by hordes of bloodthirsty zombies. Her boyfriend - Nick - in an effort to save her from being bitten, gets bitten himself. Not thinking too long and wanting to keep her beloved alive, the girl performs a magical ritual and cuts off his head from the rest of his body, then attaches it to her belt like a key ring. As if by the way, Juliet reveals that she belongs to a family that has been exterminating the living dead for generations. After that, the protagonist has no choice but to grab a chainsaw in her favorite pink color and start a bloody butchery to deal with the deadly danger that hangs over San Romero, while trying to get the rest of the body for Nick.
In Lollipop Chainsaw, we observe the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). We dash through levels during the gameplay and eliminate hordes of zombies, rescuing the heroine's classmates along the way. The combat system relies on speed and dexterity, and Juliet fights both with a chainsaw and by performing spectacular stunts and delivering murderous punches and kicks. Attacks can (and even should) be combined into impressive combinations. In addition, Nick, who constantly accompanies the protagonist, also comes in handy in battle, providing us with access to a variety of special attacks.
As we progress, we develop Juliet's abilities, learning new combos and upgrading the saw, allowing us to face more and more challenges. In addition, a variety of outfits and gadgets for the heroine are waiting to be unlocked.
Against the background of the original, Lollipop Chainsaw stands out due to a changed audiovisual setting. Graphics have been thoroughly refreshed; moreover, the whole game has been kept in a more realistic style than in the original. The soundtrack, on the other hand, received a number of new tracks, replacing songs for which the creators did not manage to obtain a license.

Game Ratings for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Video Game.
Completexbox: 65 / 100 by Dan Boise
Even in 2024, Chainsaw Lollipop RePOP is just big, dumb fun. The story, while existing, is there to give a premise to all of this, but the gameplay of running around and comboing enemies is the meat of the matter. Combat is surprisingly deep, especially as you purchase new skills; easier to learn, hard to master. But it does show its age; janky camera, messed up auto-aim, 2012 visuals. If you never played it and looking for big stupid fun or if you previously enjoyed it, it’s worth revisiting. Just not at that price.
Nintendo Life: 5 / 10 by Ken Talbot
Lollipop Chainsaw RePop's zombie-killing mayhem is just as childish, stupid and fun as it was in 2012. This remaster brings with it a streamlined experience and decent visual polish. Unfortunately, RePop suffers from poor optimisation, lapsed musical licenses and an extra mode that brings nothing new to the table. If you can, seek out the original.
Pure Xbox: 6 / 10 by Liam Doolan
Don't get us wrong, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is a fun fling from start to finish but it was never really a role model student when it arrived on the scene in 2012. Despite the enhancements and improvements in this latest release, the core gameplay and level design can feel quite outdated at times, and the chapter-breaking bugs have been hard to look past. If Dragami's updates resolve these glitches, or you're just a longtime fan of this one, maybe consider giving the zombie slayer an extra star for her efforts.
