Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is a detective action game. It was developed by a Japanese studio Too Kyo Games, founded by veterans who'd worked on such series as Danganronpa and Zero Escape.
The game is set in a megacorp-controlled city combining the architecture and culture of modern Japan with fantasy elements. It is filled with unsolved mysteries, the challenge drawing in talented detectives from all over the world.
The game's protagonist is the teenage Youma, an intern at a local detective agency. He's accompanied by Shinigami, a female spirit associated with death.
The game was written by Kazutaka Kodaka, known for his work on the Danganronpa series.
Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE is an action game with detective adventure elements. Players can freely explore the city, taking on various challenges.
Each case has us conducting an investigation, gathering evidence, analyzing clues and talking to witnesses. Once we've gathered enough information about the given mystery, it takes physical form of an alternate dimension, filled with puzzles and traps we must overcome to discover the truth.
The game only supports singleplayers.
Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE features 3D visuals and an anime-like artstyle. One of the game's most distinctive features are its distinctive character designs created by Rui Komatsuzaki, an artist known from the Danganronpa series.
The soundtrack of Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE was composed by Masafumi Takada, also returning from Danganronpa.

But stick through to the end, and Rain Code eventually delivers a satisfyingly twisty adventure in spite of its shortcomings – helping to somewhat fill that Danganronpa void.

Though the more hands-on gameplay mechanics aren’t groundbreaking and can feel a bit too easy, the strength of the narrative alone and cleverly created whodunnits make this a must-play for Danganronpa fans and anyone who loves channeling their inner detective.
