Most strategy games have accustomed us to the fact that in addition to fighting battles, in this type of productions we are also engaged in managing all their "background". Medieval Siege, however, is a minimalist production of this type, which allows us to focus exclusively on conducting offensive and defensive operations. The title was developed by Mind Inside Games, an independent studio with the Arcade game Empire Tycoon in its portfolio.

Gameplay

In Medieval Siege we view the action in an isometric view. The gameplay is based on simple and clear rules. In its course we find ourselves on the battlefield, where we deploy our units and then send them into battle.

Planning phase

In the first phase of the game time stops, so we can calmly think about the optimal deployment of our soldiers, set them up in formations, as well as decide on their combat stance (allowing them to move into battle or "gluing" them to a given position to defend it at all costs).

At our disposal here are both infantry (warriors, archers), as well as cavalry and war machines. Complementing all this are special units (such as priest, king and queen, and even goliath), whose presence in our ranks provides various bonuses. Their array expands as we progress.

Battle phase

Once we have everything buttoned up, there is nothing left to do but to start the battle. When the soldiers move on each other, we can only watch their actions, convincing ourselves of the effectiveness (or on the contrary) of the chosen tactics.

Game modes

Medieval Siege offers two game modes. The first is the campaign, in which we face increasingly difficult challenges. The second is a sandbox module, where we can test different scenarios without looking at the limitations imposed from the game.
