A third-person action game and a spin-off to Metal Gear Solid - the popular stealth game series created by Hideo Kojima. In this game you play as Raiden, the protagonist of the second installment in the series. The story is set in an African country devastated by a civil war, where the hero faces an army of robots and cyborgs belonging to Desperado Enforcement corporation.
In this spin-off to his flagship video game series, Hideo Kojima once more focused on the character of Raiden. This hero was the main protagonist in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, however, at that time he was just a recruit, still learning the ropes, and not the killing machine that he became in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Since the title is not a core entry in the Metal Gear Solid stealth game series, but a spin-off slasher, it was renamed Metal Gear Rising. Moreover, this time Kojima only worked as the executive producer, mainly taking care of the script and character design.
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for PC, X360 and PS3 plays out four years after the conclusion of Guns of the Patriots, focusing on Raiden, who is fighting against Desperado Enforcement LLC cyborgs and robots in an unspecified African country recently devastated by a civil war. Unlike the core Metal Gear Solid games, this title offers fast-paced, dynamic action typical of Platinum Games productions.
Keeping the roots of the series in mind, the creators allowed players to perform sneak attacks, although it is more often that the enemies are hiding from the player than the other way round. Raiden’s electric katana wreaks havoc among his opponents – an in-house technology allows for chopping off enemies’ limbs and cutting them up in a brutal, spectacular way. A Blade Mode was also implemented, in which time slows down and the player can select cutting points on either an enemy’s body or an element of environment.

Game Ratings for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Video Game.
High-Def Digest: 4 / 5 by Brian Hoss
As an off-shoot title in a genre outside of the series' norms, 'Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance' succeeds, and its challenging core combat is a credit to Platinum Games. While I can't help but wish the game had a longer, better realized campaign, the plethora of assorted side content and value price speak louder than the game's flaws. As a new generation of consoles is upon us, the option of getting one of Platinum Games titles (a 'Metal Gear' no less) on the PC is much appreciated. When the action of 'Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance' is flowing, the game seems so good that I wish Konami would commission a retouched version for the new consoles.
DarkZero: 9 / 10 by Dominic Sheard
I can imagine some Metal Gear fans might not enjoy this style of gameplay, but if any are willing to give it a shot or if you are a fan of high paced action, then you owe yourself to jump into Revengeance's stylish and exceptional top class gameplay and have a slash of a time
