Mechanics

Mille Miglia is an arcade racing game, which is distinguished above all by a specific set of cars available to choose from. Developers have subdivided vehicles into three categories, depending on the years in which they have participated in the competition. Legendary cars such as the Mercedes SSK, BMW 328, Mercedes 300SL or Fiat 500 are available, each reproduced with attention to detail and in an effort to reflect real achievements. The cars are described by three features - maximum speed, acceleration and steering. The creators prepared ten different routes, inspired by real sections that lead through Italian towns, mountain passes and tunnels. Six drivers compete on each of them at the same time.

The driving model used in Mille Miglia combines arcade and simulation elements. The vehicles are not damaged after impacts, instead bouncing back from each other and obstacles, but at the same time they move at a relatively slow pace, according to the capabilities of racing machines from the first half of the twentieth century. In addition to the typical championship mode, which unlocks subsequent routes for subsequent victories, and competiting in a chosen car on all available routes, gamers can also take part in races with a second player on a split screen.

Technical aspects

Mille Miglia is a three-dimensional production in which the authors tried to combine an arcade driving model with the most realistic recreation of car models and routes of the original competition. The game features FMV scenes as a narrative device.
