A cozy strategy game with elements of a life simulation. The area of our operations in Minami Lane is the titular street. We can keep expanding it and taking care of it, basing our actions on the feedback from the residents. The visuals of the game were inspired by the works of Studio Ghibli.
Doot, Blibloop and Zakku are nicknames of three video game creators. While the first one previously worked as a data scientist, the second one is an artist and computer graphic designer, and the third one is a composer. Their collaboration resulted in the creation of Minami Lane. It is a cozy strategy game with elements of life simulation, in which our task is to take care of the titular street.
In Minami Lane we watch events in an isometric view.
The game takes place on a street inspired by the ones found in Japan. Our task is to make it as friendly as possible for the residents.
A single game is scheduled for 2-4 hours. We build houses and various useful objects. Available types of buildings include ramen bars, shops, bookstores, boba cafes, and karaoke clubs. The game allows us to decide both the placement of each of these places and their appearance.
This is not the end, because if we want our street to prosper, we also need to listen to the opinions and needs of the residents. They are displayed inside speech bubbles above their heads. We should try to adapt and listen to them. Additionally, we need to set prices in stores, take care of their assortment, or pick the menus in restaurants. We are also responsible for the cleanliness of the alley.
As we progress, we expand the range of available buildings. Over time new residents appear on the street, and with them - new matters that need to be addressed.
Minami Lane offers a range of missions that feature requirements for us to fulfill. Random events add variety to the fun. Additionally, there is a sandbox mode to check out here, where we don't have to worry about any restrictions or objectives.
The graphic design of Minami Lane was maintained in a cartoon style evoking associations with the works of Studio Ghibli.
