MLB: The Show 16 for PS3 and PS4 is yet another instalment of the MLB: The Show series that aims at recreating the experience of professional baseball players from the Major Baseball League. SCE San Diego Studio, known for the previous parts of the game, is the developer of the title.

Mechanics

The main objective of MLB: The Show 16 for PS3 and PS4 is very similar to that of the 2015’s instalment. The game of course introduces improvements and novelties, including ShowTime, which is a kind of bullet-time that slows down time and allows for striking and catching the ball more accurately and spectacularly. The Road To The Show mode is also improved (PS4 only) and due to the renovated player training system you can unlock a wide range of perks useful during the games.

For Sony, like EA's Madden series, there are few to no challengers to the genre so success lies within their own hands. So the question is, if it ain't broke, will they still try to fix it, or if it is broke, do they still care to fix it?

Forbes: 8.5 / 10 by Brian Mazique

The Show looks good, plays great and is deep enough to overshadow moderately unbalanced visuals and a slight void of personality. If you've always loved the series, the fire will still burn despite the minor infractions.
