PlanetSide 2
PlanetSide 2

Action 20 November 2012

An MMO shooter game played from the first-person view and developed by a studio belonging to Sony Online Entertainment. The game debuted on PCs, but eventually it was also released for PlayStation 4. The game is set on the planet Auraxis, where colonists from Earth are fighting for territory, power, and resources. The players reinforce the ranks of one of the three factions (Terran Republic, New Conglomerate, Vanu Sovereignty). The action takes place on huge maps where thousands of players can meet - each map is filled with bases, outposts, and other places of strategic importance. The size of the battlefield made it necessary to simplify movement. As a result, the players make use of teleports, vehicles, as well as a system of spawning automatically in places where the action is. As the player progresses, their character develops within the character class chosen earlier (each of those serves a purpose and can do their share for the faction not only through eliminating the enemies). PlanetSide 2 utilizes mechanics borrowed from modern-day FPS games. For instance, health partially regenerates in an automatic manner. The experience is complemented by high-quality visuals.

One Life
One Life

Action TBA

A post-apocalyptic MMOFPS with survival game features. It was developed by the independent Russian studio Kefir! At first glance the mechanics of One Life are similar to other games in the genre. The player is taken to a large post-apocalyptic world filled with dangers, where he and other users are trying to survive. The path to victory leads through wise strategy, seeking water and food and through crafting needed items. What makes the title original is a unique system of permanent death. In this game dying doesn’t offer a chance to create a new character and start the game from the beginning. If the player dies, his adventure with the game ends definitely as One Life simply won’t enable him to play itself again. Luckily, it’s not that easy to die in the game.

F.R.A.G.
F.R.A.G.

Action canceled

F.R.A.G. is a free-to-play online FPS developed by Allods Team. Advertised as the so-called "anti-shooter", F.R.A.G is in fact a rather typical multiplayer fps. There are several types of soldiers the players can caontrol, each of them using a different type of weapon (i.e. powerful minigun, rocket launcher, or dual-wielded machine guns) and skills, like force field or a protective shield that provides cover from the incoming bullets. Gameplay is more or less arcade, but our victory depends on how good we cooperate with our team. Battles take place on diversified maps (snowy ones, deserts, etc.). All of them are multi-leveled and allow for tactical use of the environment. The game features mediocre, slightly cartoonish visuals.

A few generations later, the planet slowly returns to life, with humanity creating special anomaly zones that isolate dangerous mutated beings along with unlucky humans that inhabit the area. The player joins the ranks of so called Stalkers, and depending on his preferences, he can focus on lone treasure hunts, or join the conflict of interest between a few groups that fight for the control over the zone. We can choose from several specializations that determine not only the abilities of our character, but also the play style, and focus on enabling us to complete hundreds of story quests in an open world with an area of over 40 square kilometers. We can choose from numerous weapons, outfits, and special artifacts, along with an extensive crafting module present to fulfill any requests the player may have.

The perk system enables the player to choose from many special abilities that will be appropriate for their adapted play style. Even though local fauna may pose mortal danger, the elimination of other players – up to 42 – is the backbone of the game. The game sees us take part in a planet-wide war between two powerful factions. Such targets require major offensives (PvP battles for up to 256 players) that include land, air, or naval units.
