We Are Football is a sports simulation game by German studio Winning Streak Games, published by THQ Nordic. The game allows us to take on the role of a football team manager and lead our club to world fame.
The basics of the gameplay are not particularly different from other games of the genre. We Are Football is based on in-depth and detailed management of your team. We will take care of finances, make deals with sponsors and investors, play on the stock market, promote our club through social media and much more. Our skills can be developed, allowing us to do our job more effectively.
Each player has unique statistics, skills and their own psychological profile. Depending on their profiles, they may get along better or worse with their teammates. If we want to be successful, we need to take care of the state of our team, send players to training and create line-ups that can work together. We can also take care of the youth section of the club, training promising athletes to put them on the pitch in the future. We Are Football also allows the player to manage women's teams.
Matches are presented mainly through text commentary, tables with listed players, a simple pitch model and player portraits. As a manager we can influence the way our team plays, impose a specific strategy and assign roles to the athletes on the pitch. Apart from taking care of our team, we can also take care of the development of the stadium and the club area. The game does not have official licenses, so there are no real clubs. We can create our own teams using the editor present in the game.
In We Are Football we will not experience online multiplayer. We can play solo or in two people on the same computer.
The graphic design of the game is quite simple and consists mainly of tables and graphs. However, during the development of the stadium and the club, the graphics transform into three dimensions, allowing the player to freely observe the results of his work.

With a different gameplay focus, bright and breezy presentation, a simple yet effective match engine and a long overdue women’s football management mode, We Are Football does a pretty decent job of setting itself apart from Football Manager. However, a cluttered and messy UI, when combined with a frankly overwhelming amount of information to process, served to be pretty off-putting and left me pining for the relative simplicity of FM Touch.

Not having a single licensed team or roster just makes it really hard for me to get invested in it. Sure, it has an editor, but that means we will have to wait a bit until a community becomes large enough to start releasing roster updates for the public.
