A first-person action game with survival horror elements. My Friedly Neighborhood is set in an old TV studio creating kids' shows, tasking us with surviving a rampage of animated toys.
My Friendly Neighborhood is a first-person survival horror game, created by John and Evan Szymanski. The game is set in a TV studio once focused on creating broadcasts for children - after being forgotten for years, once adored puppets decide to return to the air by force. Though the game doesn't lack elements of horror and implements mechanics known from the Resident Evil series, it's nowhere near as violent as its inspirations.
Each TV show falls off over time, the same applying to "My Friendly Neighborhood" - a popular show for kids. The puppets starring in it, having lost their fame and status, are unceremoniously stashed in the backrooms. Many years later, the discontinued program unexpectedly reappears on television, its strangely disturbing form prompting the city authorties to investigate. Gordon, the studio janitor, is sent to the scene, forced to face the crazy toys.
My Friendly Neighborhood is a relaxed take on a horror game. The main character isn't taken aback by the puppets' weird behavior and can dispatch them rather efficiently.
The game features a wide roster of interesting weaponry, including a wrench, fake shotguns and miniguns, an alphabet gun and duct tape. Duct tape is requiring to put enemies down for good, as the toys tend to reanimate themselves as soon as we leave the room. Gordon's equipment space is limited and must be properly managed, as he has to hold ammo, grenades and healing items.
While exploring the studio we'll visit movie sets, playrooms, backstages and sewers. Crazy toys hide everywhere, jumping out of vents or shadows. While exploring, we'll often face environmental puzzles. Oftentimes we'll need to find right items, such as keys, move levers or correctly arrange letters.

Game Ratings for My Friendly Neighborhood Video Game.
Rectify Gaming: 8.5 / 10
My Friendly Neighborhood is a creative and memorable adventure that balances its kid friendly exterior with real depth, wit, and polish. While it doesn’t redefine survival horror, it stands as an example of what innovative ambition and personality can achieve in an oversaturated market. Not everything needs to be a P.T. walking simulator clone!
Hardcore Gamer: 4 / 5 by Kyle LeClair
My Friendly Neighborhood is a pleasant surprise and a genuine delight, one highly recommended for fans of survival horror, mascot horror and possibly even those who aren't horror fans.
The Jimquisition: 7 / 10 by James Stephanie Sterling
My Friendly Neighborhood offers a unique execution of a conceit that’s otherwise become trite among horror games. Taking the “spooky kiddy thing” idea and pulling it onto a framework built from equal parts BioShock and Resident Evil smartly separates it from the ocean of similar concepts in the genre, even if none of its individual components are particularly original. It’s sadly let down from a lack of variety and consequently runs too long, unable to stay fresh or surprising enough to sustain its runtime. However, it’s a fun ride while it lasts, and it’s story is charming enough to be worth seeing through to the end.
