Narru: The Forgotten Lands takes us through a variety of locations - from a picturesque settlement in a dense forest, through dark undergrounds, to fantastic locations hanging in the skies. While exploring them, we face various environmental puzzles, which consist mainly of activating ancient mechanisms. Solving the puzzles makes the grey-tinged surroundings bloom anew, sparkling with a spectrum of colors. As you progress, the range of your abilities grows - after mastering the ability to move on the surface of water or on walls, you gain access to previously inaccessible areas and can face increasingly complex problems.

With time we discover more secrets of each location, finding secret passages or carefully hidden altars and paintings. The latter, along with the stories of the goddess, are a valuable source of information about the game world and its former inhabitants.
