NHL 15

NHL 15 is another installment of the well-known and highly appreciated sports games series, allowing the players to enter the virtual rink and play in the best hockey league in the world – the NHL. The game was developed by the Canadian EA Sports studio.

In this edition, the changes affected mainly the technical layer of the product. The developers offered the players a completely new physics engine – NHL 12 Player Collision Physics which is responsible for the realization of collisions between the players during the game. Thanks to it, the clashes between players or violent body-checks present themselves similarly to reality. The players will also appreciate the Real Puck Physics tool changing the behavior of the puck on both the surface of the ice, as well as in the air.

A large part of improvements have also been made in presentation of the players. Hockey players are now built up of three separate parts – body, clothing and equipment needed to play, and each of these components, appropriately modified, has an impact on the abilities and achievements of a given player. The developers also improved artificial intelligence, paying more attention to predicting actions and reading of the game. The “Superstar Skill Stick” system has also a significant impact on the player's actions, it enables the player to make most of the moves using the right analog stick.

Thanks to the cooperation with the American station, NBC sports, NHL 15, there is a new duo of commentators with a reporter reporting directly from the rink, and the considerable improvements were made in the presentation of the matches, which now are enriched with a number of statistics, historical events, and curiosities from the world of the NHL.

In terms of the visuals, the developers focused primarily on the events happening outside of the main field of hockey struggles, preparing a 9000 models of fans with unique sets of animations and costumes, and spectacular camera close-ups help to show the unique atmosphere of the sports events. The halls were built from scratch, and the hockey players were given improved sets of facial expressions and gestures that better reproduce the excitement in the game.
