A first-person survival horror, allowing for singleplayer or 4-person coop. Niktophobia takes us to a space station overrun by alien life forms. Our mission includes collecting biological samples and securing them. We must watch out for the hostile AI controlling the facility and manage power to different areas of the station.
Niktophobia is a survival horror game designed for cooperative play. We fight for survival on a space station overrun by dangerous alien life forms, defending ourselves together with other players. The game was developed by the independent studio OldYacht.
In Niktophobia we view the action from a first-person (FPP) or third-person (TPP) perspective. Our primary task is to explore the space station in search of suspicious substances, collect samples and deliver them to a safe place as quickly as possible.
The execution of this task is complicated by the fact that we are constantly being pursued by creatures that have taken over the station's rooms and corridors. Artificial intelligence oversees their behavior, analyzing our actions and deciding on this basis whether we pose a threat to it or not. Given that we have limited means of defense, it's better not to provoke the AI and get out of its way or try to avoid the creatures it controls.
An additional difficulty is the limited power of the station. Since not all of its areas can be powered at the same time, the key to success is skillful energy management and choosing which parts of the facility should receive power. This is important because only the powered sections of the station are illuminated. In all other areas we have to rely on light sources that we carry with us, such as flares or flashlights.
Niktophobia was designed for cooperative play for up to 4 people. The game also allows for singleplayer.
Niktophobia transports us to a science fiction universe, specifically - to a space station, where a space research and development center is located. After a malfunction of the power core and loss of contact with its crew, a team specializing in biological and chemical threats is sent to the site. Its mission is to collect biological samples of alien origin and secure them for further research.
Niktophobia supports virtual reality goggles, but they are not required to play the game.
