A first-person perspective (FPP) sandbox survival horror game. The Forest is the work of an independent studio SKS Games, known mainly for the smartphone hit, End Night. The player assumes the role of a sole survivor of a plane crash. The hero ends up on an isolated island far away from civilization, inhabited by a tribe of cannibalistic mutants. The gameplay focuses on the exploration of land (forest, caves, etc.), survival skills (building a shelter, searching for food, setting traps, etc.), and fighting or avoiding confrontation with opponents. The creators have made an effort to create a lively, fast-changing world, allowing for great freedom of action. As for the technical side, The Forest utilizes Unity 4 engine.

The continuation of the multiplayer FPS with strategy elements, being a continuation of the legendary Quake’s freeware modification from 1996. After Valve Corporation bought the title, subsequent versions of the game were powered by Half-Life’s engine, while TF 2 utilizes the modern Source engine. To some extent, mechanics resemble those in the original Team Fortress, which means completing subsequent missions, despite the other team's efforts to prevent that. There are 9 well-balanced classes which feature unique abilities. Cooperation – the key to success – consists in the skillful use of character abilities that supplement each other. The most characteristic element of the game are the exaggerated heroes and humorous visuals that go against the hyper-realism trend, employing the style of an animated movie.

This title can be classified as a joke sim, similar to Surgeon Simulator, I Am Bread, or Probably Archery. The game is set in the year 2050, when most humans’ tasks were handed down to specialized machines. In order to remind humanity that their ancestors used to work like this, a special simulation program was created to teach people of the future what true work used to mean. The game has no specific goals. As you play you pursue certain occupations, such as chef, shopkeeper, or office worker, allowing you to manipulate the objects around you. However, using them in the proper, intended way is not so easy, as the over the top physics make even the simplest actions challenging and hilarious at the same.

A first-person action game and at the same time a rather peculiar superhero simulator - Megaton Rainfall is the debut project from the independent Spanish developer Pentadimensional Games. The action of the game is set more or less in the modern times, when the Earth falls victim to an invasion of aliens who want to exterminate all humans. The player assumes the role of an immortal superhero exhibiting supernatural abilities. They are tasked with facing the alien aggressors. Players observe the action from the first-person perspective, and the gameplay revolves around the exploration of the open world, completing various missions, and fighting hordes of enemies. On their way, the players are bound to encounter armed spaceships, as well as more powerful mechanical walkers. Due to his supernatural strength, the main protagonist can demolish the city infrastructure, hover in mid-air, and fly faster than the speed of light. The game is compatible with the Virtual Reality headgear; however, it is not necessary in order to play Megaton Rainfall.

The title is developed by the independent studio Owlchemy Labs under the watchful eye of the creators of the cartoon, including Justin Roiland. During gameplay, you take control of the titular heroes and travel through a number of locations from the TV series, where you can have fun with Rick’s crazy gadgets. There is a set of missions which can be accomplished in many ways, with the use of unique items. Even though Rick’s laboratory serves as the focal point of the game, you also travel to other planets and dimensions through portals. Rick and Morty Simulator: Virtual Rick-ality is created for VR devices and motion controllers. The visuals are attractive, but it is the physics engine that deserves most recognition, as it is responsible for the proper behavior of items that interact with each other.

A special edition of the fifth installment in the popular RPG series by Bethesda, created for VR headgear and motion controllers. The plot of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR does not differ from that in the original version of the game. The story takes place in a fantasy world, which is threatened by dragons, led by Alduin. You play as the last Dovahkiin, a human that can speak dragon language, which makes them the only one capable of stopping the oncoming apocalypse. In terms of technical aspects, the game is based on the Special Edition of the production and, compared to the original, features e.g. improved lighting, higher resolution textures, and previously unavailable visual effects. What changed most is the combat system: you aim by moving your head and attack by using motion controllers, transferring your moves onto your character.

A sports game simulating table tennis, developed by an independent studio called Reddoll Games. The game has been designed for Virtual Reality headgear and motion controllers – by using the latter ones, the players can control the paddle hovering in the air and hit the incoming balls. The standard rules of table tennis are slightly modified within several optional game modes in VR Ping Pong. For Example, in the Wall Mode, the player has to use a wall to bounce the ball, while in Broken Table Mode, after each hit, the table is gradually getting destroyed. The player can also enjoy the Serve Mode (in which they can test the strength and precision of their serves) and the TT Machine, which tests the player’s reflexes. Moreover, the game delivers single matches and tournaments, while the beginning players can familiarize themselves with the rules in the dedicated tutorial. The original, yet not very attractive visuals have been designed based on voxel graphics.

A hybrid of survival horror and a roguelike game, designed exclusively for Virtual Reality headgear. Developed by Firesprite, The Persistence takes the players to the year 2521, when the interstellar voyages are a part of people’s everyday life. The main protagonist is a member of a spaceship crew, which, as a result of an unsuccessful experiment, has been turned into bloodthirsty mutants. The player is tasked with finding a way to restart the engines, allowing him to escape into safer parts of the Universe. In The Persistence, one observes the action from the first-person perspective. During the game, the player explores consecutive rooms and cabins of an enormous ship (the layout of which is procedurally generated), solves numerous environmental puzzles, and fights the encountered enemies using a diversified arsenal. There is also an option to sneak past the enemies’ backs. The main protagonist is equipped with a special device, allowing him to recover stem cells from the bodies of fallen enemies in order to develop particular traits and abilities. Interestingly enough, the protagonist’s death is permanent, which means that each playthrough features different challenges. The entire experience features high-quality visuals.

A beat’em up title with side view developed by independent studio Paw Print Games. Bloody Zombies is set in London, a city infested by a plague of the titular undead. We move towards the right side of the screen while eliminating hordes of enemies, with distinctive and powerful mutated bosses. The combat system is based on brutal and spectacular attacks that can be chained to create even more powerful combos. However, the key to success lies in using surrounding objects along with active and passive powers of each hero. We can play both by ourselves and in cooperation mode for up to four players. All of this is presented in two-dimensional, cartoonish visuals.

The title is described as a new kind of documentary film, featuring only uncomplicated mechanics that fit more to virtual reality than a fully-fledged video game. The events are seen from a first-person perspective, and the players have the full freedom to look around their surroundings. The camera switches to TPP mode only during combat. During the takeoff and landing, we can operate on-board equipment (however, the procedures has been simplified). While on the Moon, we can take a walk, and conduct simple research. Apollo 11 VR takes place in a detailed 3D environment, with a climatic soundtrack and authentic conversations accompanying the gameplay.

An exploration game designed exclusively for Virtual Reality headgear – ARK Park takes the players to a futuristic Jurassic Park clone. The action of the game includes references to the popular online survival game called ARK: Survival Evolved. In the game, one can observe the natural habitat of dinosaurs, and even ride the gigantic reptiles. The locations one gets to explore are much diversified – there is a tropical jungle, snow-capped mountain peaks, and even vast steppes. During their journey, the players can use a camera, solve relatively simple puzzles, and learn about over 100 dinosaur species – their genes serve as collectibles. Moreover, ARK Park introduces a zoo, in which one can play with the animals the genes of which have been acquired – this means stroking, feeding, and even painting them. The game is based on Unreal Engine 4, thus the visuals featured in the game are of high quality.

The production tells a story about the crew of the spaceship Sentra, which has been sent to the Red Planet with the objective of retrieving the remains of the Phobos, a research probe. Once they got there, they find remnants of an alien civilization that come back to life due to contact with humans. The backbone of Unearthing Mars is exploration, but you will also have to display different skills – during gameplay, you shoot, solve logic puzzles, and control a rover or a lander. Even though the initial moments are realistic, further into the story more fantastic elements emerge, such as war machines constructed by the legendary Martians. The title uses the power of Unreal Engine 4, which makes the game it look amazing.

Chernobyl VR Project is an extraordinary exploration game, which utilizes virtual reality to take the players into the ruins of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, as well as the city of Pripyat. Chernobyl VR Project has been developed by The Farm 51 – the studio known for such games as Get Even, Deadfall Adventures, Painkiller: Hell & Damnation or the NecroVision series. This is an interactive story of the fate that befell the citizens of the city, and areas around the power plant, most severely affected with the disaster. Gameplay is focused on multiplayer, as many missions require more than one diver to complete. Apart from co-op missions, there are also some competitive game modes, based on either typical sports or treasure hunting.

Fighting enemies with the use of an extensive and elaborate weapon arsenal remains at the core of Doom VFR. We face various adversaries on our way, both in claustrophobic corridors and more spacious arenas. The game’s high-quality graphics attract attention with very detailed enemy models and environment elements.

The action is observed from the first-person perspective. We can learn both the basics and advanced strategies in the tutorial. In total, the developers prepared eighty chess challenges (e.g. winning a game within seven turns). The multiplayer lets us play locally or engage in ranked online matches. Chess Ultra also allows the players to organize their own tournaments and search for game partners of the same skill level. The developers created four game rooms. Moreover, we can change the appearance of the board and chess figures by choosing from tens of available models. The production supports 4K resolution.
