A third-person survival game with an open world, allowing for both solo play and online cooperation. Of Peaks and Tides features a vast and diverse land for us to explore. Our character can hunt, fight, build various structures and rely on a crafting system.
The Chinese team CyancookGames began their activity by creating an open-world survival game. We're talking about Of Peaks and Tides, set in a fantasy land inspired by Far Eastern myths. After the war between humanity and beasts, the land became a shadow of itself and plunged into chaos.
We play as a representative of the people known as Nolands, whose ancestors once created a magnificent civilization, and now its representatives have to fight for survival and try to find a new place for themselves.
In Of Peaks and Tides we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP).
The game provides us with a vast land that we can freely explore. It features places like the dense Forest or a grassy Plain. We travel the game world on foot, on the back of a mount (which we must first find and tame), or with the help of a kind of boat capable of moving on sand.
We must hunt and gather resources, get to know its other inhabitants, and also fight with the encountered enemies. We deal with both ordinary opponents and more powerful enemies, led by gigantic beasts.
Dynamic battles force us to use melee weapons or ranged weapons (bows) and interact with the presented world. The game has implemented systems that allow for things like starting a fire or flooding the battlefields. We can also turn enemies against each other or set traps for them.
The resources we acquire during the game are used for the crafting system, with which we produce both equipment elements (led by weapons), as well as more advanced constructions like siege machines. Additionally, the game allows us to construct various buildings and fortifications.
Of Peaks and Tides can be played alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet.
Of Peaks and Tides operates on the Unity engine.
