Release Date: August 15, 2025
A remastered version of the free RPG from 2008, released under the same title. OFF allows us to take control over a baseball player. Our protagonist visits various locations, dealing with enemies and trying to "cleanse the world.
In 2008, OFF, a free RPG game, was released. It was created using the RPG Maker 2003 tool. Years later, the developer known as Mortis Ghost (one of the original authors) entered a collaboration with Fangamer. They prepared a remaster of this production with the same title.
In OFF we watch the action from a bird's eye view.
We are controlling a baseball player and our task is to "cleanse the world". This involves the need to explore a series of locations and get rid of the ghosts haunting them. Our actions are closely observed by a cat named Judge.
The adventure leads us through a post office, a library, a shopping center, an amusement park, and a factory. The game world is divided into zones protected by Guardians and we must defeat them, thereby gaining so-called zodiac cards and gaining access to subsequent locations. In each of them, various missions await completion, and environmental and logical puzzles await solving.
Of course, there are also opponents we have to defeat. The game approaches the combat system in an unusual way, because although it was inspired by jRPG games, the battles are not turn-based. Instead, we make the next moves after our character has "cooled down". The game also allows us to automate battles.
Apart from a baseball bat, we can make use of the power of elements such as... smoke, sugar, meat, plastic or metal.
OFF has simple graphics made in pixel art technique.

Screen Hype: 9 / 10 by Michael Manning
It’s impossible to oversell just how important OFF was to the indie RPG scene, not only by directly inspiring so many storied creatives. The themes tackled by off, as little as we can discuss them in this review, continue to shape the world of gaming today. That’s why it aggravates me to say I wish there were more of it. OFF is a rather quick play, especially compared to some of its contemporaries. This, in and of itself, is a strength, giving the player plenty to chew on as credits roll. Despite this, I can’t help but wish it got to spend some more time with those themes.
RPG Fan: 84 / 100
Anyone invested in the history or aesthetics of indie RPGs should check out OFF.
RPG Site: 8 / 10
OFF represents pure, unfiltered artistic expression, and while I can't fully piece the puzzle together, the process of trying is rewarding.
